Man murdered, domestic worker on the run

Three men have been arrested and a domestic worker is on the run after a man was killed in his Erasmia home in Pretoria earlier this week.

Police said the men accosted Johann le Roux, 61, in his home on a plot in Rhenosterspruit and beat him to death with a sharp object, Rekord Centurion reported.

“It is alleged that deceased left his house early on Monday morning, leaving behind his domestic worker,” police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said.

“When he came back around 12:00pm, he was confronted by three unknown suspects. They tied him up and beat him with a sharp object until he died,” added Moloto.

He said the house was ransacked and items such as electrical appliances, clothing, and laptops were stolen.

“Further investigation revealed the suspects took two vehicles (a gold Toyota Land Cruiser and Hyundai H1) belonging to the deceased.

“It’s unclear how the suspects gained entry to the house and the motive behind the killing is not known at this stage,” Moloto said.

The domestic worker is sought by police.
