Major hunt underway for abducted, gang-raped school-going girl

A desperate search is underway for the 18-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted by a group of BaSotho men. The girl was last heard yelling for help, and fighting with her abductors as they dragged her away. The suspects were arrested, but the teenage has not been found.

Top cops rewarded at Prestige Awards

A special Prestige Award Ceremony was held for the top police members of Ekurhuleni Central Cluster at Birchwood Hotel, on September 9. The event was hosted by Ekurhuleni Cluster Commander, Maj-Gen Bruce Subbiah, to honour and award the officials for their outstanding performance, hard work and dedication throughout the year 2015/16.

Trainee firefighters successfully complete night drill

A group of 50 trainee firefighters part of the Ekurhuleni Municipality Fire and Rescue Operations Learnership programme completed the first half of their training course with the very important night drill. The night training drills were held at the Ekurhuleni Emergency Services training academy at Leon Ferreira Fire Station, Boksburg, on September 1 and 2.

Gift of warmth this winter

The Harley Owners Group (HOG) Johannesburg Chapter has on Saturday, June 4 donated 200 blankets to New Beginnings. The blankets will keep the cold at bay for most of the residents of the centre, who can hardly afford to buy their own blankets.

Sunward Park High School suffers severe damage due to thunderstorm

Sunward Park High School suffered severe damage when metal sheets of the roof, of the far end building next to the soccer fields, were blown off by yesterday’s (November 16) thunderstorm. Metal sheets were flown over a three story building and a two story block, eventually landing in front of the school main entrance, in Sonskyn Road.
