RocoMamas Boksburg held its first Rockburg Car Show on September 10, in association with The Rock Raceway and Maxtrax Suspension. On display were cars that are not seen as ‘normal’, such as muscle cars, sports cars, exotic cars and cars that were pimped or tuned up. It was certainly a day that provided plenty of eye candy for ‘petrol heads’, with an array of funky beetle cars and old Volkswagen vans also adding flavour to display. A blue Datsun walked away with the first prize as being the best in the show.
Approximately 1 000 bikers and community members contributed to the success of the sixth Ekurhuleni SPCA Animal Run mass ride held at the Boksburg City Stadium, on September 3.
Eighteen-year-old Richard van Wyk, from Cason, is embracing his title of Boksburg’s Biggest Chop, after finishing a 1kg rib-eye steak on the bone (weight excluded the bone) within only seven minutes. This, and much more, was happening at the K90 Centre fun day on Saturday, September 2.
Boksburg dancers, danced the night away while enjoying some social time with other dancers at the “Laang Arm Sokkie” dance club at the Impala Park Community Hall, on August 26.
Some of the activities on the day included archery, fight a knight, toss the caber, pillow fights, mini horse carriage rides and the ‘vegetable justice’.
Ekurhuleni Mayor Mzwandile Masina unveiled 36 new ambulances and nine new emergency response vehicles at the Leon Ferreira Fire Station in Boksburg, on August 26.
It was a day of bliss for women working in the Department of Environment and Waste Management as the Ekurhuleni Metro treated them to a hearty event in honour of them. The Ekurhuleni metro awarded study bursaries to the women worth 10 000 and R3000 for prescribed books fees as stipulated on the study scheme for employee policy. The event took place at the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre recently.
