Bikers roar to life for a good cause on Women’s Day

Morgan Fortune also grabbed the opportunity to showcase her trampoline skills.

The ride, themed, “Bikers Run Against Rape and Abuse” started in Brakpan and saw riders from 30 different biker clubs across the province weaving their way to Alberton. They then proceeded to Midrand before heading to Centurion and then roared to their final destination at The Zone in Boksburg.

This initiative was held to raise money for Epic Foundation, a Steeledale based non-profit organisation that renders services to victims of abuse and rape.

These are some of the 400 bikers who took part in the initiative to raise money for victims of rape and abuse.

Once they had all converged on Boksburg, Pastor Brett McDermid took to the podium and led a prayer against rape and abuse of women and children in the country.

He thanked all the bikers and others who came to support the initiative for having a soft spot for victims of crime.

One of the event organisers, Eugene van Straten, said he was overwhelmed by the positive response from the local biking community.

The founder of Epic Foundation Alta McMaster was also present. She was very grateful for the support her organisation received and explained that without this kind of support their organisation could not continue its services to survivors of rape and abuse.

The founder of Epic Foundation, Alta McMaster, said she was truly touched by the generosity of the bikers.

Rape victims who were at the event also used the opportunity to share their rape ordeal with the crowd, and encouraged victims of all forms of abuse and rape to speak out because that helps them to recover and regain control of their lives.

The event featured live music performances by a band called Sister Madly and stalls selling food, clothing, jewellery and other items.

Van Straten, one of the event organisers, said he was overwhelmed by the generosity of the bikers.

A jumping castle and trampoline were also available for the young ones.

Apart from the bikers who took part in the mass ride, the event was also attended by people who came with their families to support the good cause and also to have fun.

According to van Straten, they managed to raise more than R10 000 through donations, and they hope to raise more when they hold a similar event next [email protected]
