Jarvis, who was representing Ekurhuleni and Parkrand Primary School at the tournament, claimed the winner’s crown with a score of -11.

The win adds to his already impressive golfing résumé, which includes tournament wins in America, Scotland and Malaysia.

“I love playing golf at Randpark Golf Course,” enthused the 13-year-old champion.

“The greens are good and there are lots of trees. The practice facilities are excellent. I am happy I have won and I’m very proud of myself.”

John-William Blomerus (Ekurhuleni) and Chrisjan Maas (Gauteng North) completed the top three from the day’s overall winners.

The championship has been running for 10 years to date and gives all primary school golfers an opportunity to compete against other golfers from other provinces with an aim to find the best players.

The provinces which participated include Ekurhuleni, Gauteng North, Central Gauteng, North West, Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

“This is where the children start, from grass roots, developing their golf and where the stars are born,” explained Central Gauteng Primary School Golf Coordinator Hardus van der Merwe.
